“When I was 11, we went [to Nashville] during spring break. I had been singing karaoke and I competed in karaoke competitions. So, I had this little demo CD of me singing karaoke music, and my mom would pull up outside one of the record labels on Music Row in Nashville and I would run in and say to the receptionist, ‘Hi, I’m Taylor. I’m 11. I want a record deal. Call me.’”
I don’t know if Swift would be amazing or simply all right as a karaoke singer. I don’t think she has a good voice as far as being a professional (and amazingly hugely popular) singer goes. There are different expectations for karaoke, so she’d obviously be better than 99.999% of other singers at a given venue. And they use a lot of echo. But lacking the pitch correction and multi-track vocals to fill out her thin voice, I suspect she wouldn’t sound, you know, amazing. I wonder if there are YouTube videos? I could Google it, but I don’t want to hear Taylor Swift singing anything ever again.
