A cheesesteak at a Mexican airport sounds like a fantastic idea? WRONG, NO BUENO. MUY MAL. This one is from the Cancun International Airport. No joke.
It speaks for itself. That looks like horse meat and those onions look like they were made to look like a prank.
This Is Not A Cheesesteak has an all-right concept, but I feel like it’s a little racist or something, too. I get that Philadelphia has some sort of cool, canonical sandwich the making of which has rules one should follow. But the “this looks like horse meat” line doesn’t sit well with me. Have you ever seen horse meat? I’m pretty sure I have, and it looks a lot like ‘regular’ meat. I think your thinking this looks like horse meat has more to do with thinking Mexican things are cheap/shitty than an honest judgement of how this meat looks. To be honest, I’ve been to Philadelphia, to that crotch of an intersection where the two or three places have the huge lines you wait on for a fabled Philly cheesesteak. Those sandwiches aren’t that great. I mean, they taste fine, but they’re certainly not “classy” or whatever. In fact, the filling ‘looks like horse meat and Velveeta’ if you know what I mean.
