I feel like there’s some sort of ‘clogging the bases’ FJM type joke to make here. At the very least, maybe he should have said, “Instead of throwing the long bomb, sometimes we’re going to check down. But they’re really important check downs.” Because you’ve got to keep your sports metaphors timely, you know?
