“So I called up the captain,
“Please bring me my wine.”
He said, “We haven’t had that spirit here since 1969.”
The most perplexing thing about this (often self-consciously, aggressively) perplexing song is how someone can obtain the presumably high rank of Captain without having in his store of knowledge that wine is not in fact a spirit.
