Incidentally, the original album’s cover is a photograph by William Eggleston, and he’s basically the perfect album cover photographer (and photographer in general). I was thinking about European modernism and American postmodernism and what the fresh heck the South has to do with this relationship as a dialectic, maybe, and maybe Eggleston is the key to it all.
