There’s been some talk in The Household about Trent Reznor, so ofc., I had to consult Wikipedia, which led me to this.
Remastering might’ve spruced it up, but it’s unlikely a digital touchup could keep [Album A] from sounding tinny enough to give you that penny-taste in your mouth. Drumbeats are often industrial in the most literal sense, machinery-simulating presets stiff as prosthetics
But [Album B] is haunted, synthetic dance-pop through and through. The beats have muscle, but it’s not metal muscle or pigfuck muscle or even post-punk muscle.
What does it all mean? Absolutely nothing. Two different authors. Five years apart. Another remaster. Who knows. From an editorial standpoint, it’s funny is all I’m saying.
Still, damn. That’s an almost 170% return on investment over five years. I wish they traded these things in a market.
