Douglas Martin's Dirty Shoes: Angles and the Legacy of The Strokes

No introduction necessary. An excerpt:

The aforementioned “Under Cover” finds the band using a trick they must have learned from Interpol in the Radio City Music Hall green room: rewriting that one song that most people liked, only WITH A BIGGER CHORUS. Unlike Interpol, this look usually works for The Strokes, because it doesn’t involve single-note strumming, robot voices with their circuits rewired to maximize dourness, or Daniel Kessler’s sideburns.

A great review of the album, Angles. (I chose a different except than the one DM posted, though.) I was going to write a review, but this one says most all of it. So I won’t. Nb, it’s a lot nicer review than the one on the Music Blog of Record. (Even though the excerpt, which is funny, might seem like it’s mean; it’s not.) I value niceness.
