Valve brings Steam to OSX - This announcement is huge - One of the main arguments in the OSX vs PC debate just got hit out of the park - with the ability for cross platform/ cloud-based save game files and games purchased on one platform transferable to the other, as well as simultaneous releases, this is a huge notch in the belt for apple/valve.
True, the hardcore legions of gamers who MUST have the latest graphics cards wont be swayed and the premium cost of macs will probably still influence the choice of system in netcafe’s. But to the casual gamer like me, this is great news. It’s on like Donkey Kong.

It’s ironic that on a day when I make two posts mildly (though, I’d say [not unpretentiously, he intoned double-negatively] fairly deeply, philosophically) critical of gaming culture that there is some big video game news that actually interests me. See, I have a big stupid partition on my brand new MacBook Pro laptop, and this partition has Windows XP on it. The only game I play is NBA 2k10. I would probably play Portal/Portal 2.
I kind of can’t wait for Steam to come to Mac, but I kind of don’t need another way to spend money not reading and writing. It’s a wash.
