It seems to be a thing people say, so I’ll just unselfconsciously say it. I think I’m mildly autistic or OCD. I like things to be All The Same.
I returned home today and had two packages: the new n+1 and a ten pack of Parker Jotters. (I’ll say about the former—I’m extremely excited. I’ve given grief to Greif, but I love n+1.) At work I usually use pencils because I have a box of them and they’re all the same. I like being able to pluck out any instrument with the confidence that it will have the stamp of uniform excellence conferred by a decision I’ve made long before. I’d rather not have a potpourri: A good pen, a great pen, one with the roller ball kind of stuck, a partially dessicated felt tip, etc., etc. So now I have ten virgin Parker Jotters. Whenever I reach for a pen, that’s the pen I’ll get. I’m happy.
