Yelawolf rapping over The Cars’s “I’m Not The One”
I’m having a difficult time lately, I don’t know why, even comprehending how amazing and awesome Yelawolf is. He’s kind of, well, like an anodyne for listening to a lot of G-side and being depressed. Yelawolf’s similarly depressing, real talk topics-wise, but it kind of makes you feel better anyway. Like drinking a malt beverage not the kind with the Rollos in it?
Oh, I guess now this is a non-idea dump.
I know what it was. @rockabyereview posted a link to Yelawolf’s “Daddy’s Lambo” video, and that got me back on listening to Yelawolf all the time, and now that’s what I do. G-side and Yelawolf, and it’s like all Alabama, all the time. And it makes you question your authenticity bona fides, except it doesn’t since it’s also art, and it normalizes discontinuities in your version of reality. So it’s anodyne in that way, too.
I kind of wish Yelawolf were ‘more popular,’ since he’s clearly awesome. But he also reminds me of most of my friends in high school, except that he’s a lot smarter and more accomplished. So it presents an alternate reality, maybe. I don’t know. It’s philosophically unproductive to keep using the word reality to represent what I think I’m thinking about. This is the worst tumblr post ever.
