Soulja Boy - White Lights (SODMG, 2012)

easily the best Soulja Boy song in this young year (which has already seen two Soulja Boy tapes, no less). Clams Casino produced it, and Soulja rides the beat well. I hope this means that Clams and Soulja are about to start working together semi-reguarly again, but I’m not gonna hold my breath. For now, this is sufficient enough.

Wicka-wicka-wicka-wHAT? This is awesome. Hah, I love how Soulja Boy refuses to get on the beat. It’s like listening to two different songs at once.

Terius Nash - 1977 (Radio Killa, 2011)
For those not in the know, Terius Nash is the born-name of every critic’s favorite R&B singer pre-FrankWeeknd, The-Dream. This mixtape is the prelude to the fourth chapter in his Love series, and is presumably being released under his real name due to label negotiations. This is actually the first time Dream’s delivered on a promised mixtape, as the ones leading up to both Love Vs. Money and Love King fell through.
I haven’t listened to anything from the tape yet, so I can’t confirm nor deny if it’s different from The-Dream we all know.

I’m listening right now to Jesse Thorn on Jensen Karp’s Get Up On This podcast. At first I was like, yuchhhh from the two of them being on Frank Ocean’s you-know-what, saying that he was the only innovative R&B singer to occur in basically forever (since D’Angelo). Like, what?! Anyway, the podcast gets a lot better. Just like how R&B gets a lot better than just Frank Ocean. (See above, obviously.)(Click-thru to download it straight from the radio killer.)
