If you think that Spiritualized’s Super Deluxe Edition Ladies And Gentlemen We’re Floating In Space thing is too lavish and exorbitant to purchase, you’re probably right. I believe you have to destroy the packaging in order to consume it. (Metaphor realization, I know. But decidedly anti-collector. Actually, I kind of like the idea of it. ‘Course, I don’t have the money to blow on simulated drug abuse.) But the files are out there.

Listening to the exploded pieces of the songs (I almost posted the ‘Ladies and gentlemen, we are floating in space’ telephone call track) beautifully mirrors the kind of piecemeal manner we go about making a psychological/emotional ‘object’ of a piece of music—in our heads. If the original were a good album to listen to on drugs, the Super Duper Fucking Maximum Deluxe Edition is even better.
